Subject Description: | One or more works of great philosophers of the past dealing with problems of moral and/or political philosophy. Students should gain a deep appreciation of the selected authority's contribution to moral philosophy, and develop relevant research skills. | |
Assessment: | One 3-hour end-of-semester examination. An alternative assessment by up to 4000 words of essay-work (either during the semester or as a take-away examination) may be permitted; students unable to complete this essay by the due date will be required to sit the examination. Students will be advised in the first week of the subject if this option is available. | |
