161-436 Philosophy of Knowledge and Rational Inquiry I

Subject Description:

An advanced study of problems in contemporary epistemology. Students will develop an understanding of the issues raised in the subject, and the ability to argue for relevant conclusions in an alert and well-informed way.

Assessment:

One 3-hour end-of-semester examination. An alternative assessment by up to 4000 words of essay-work (either during the semester or as a take-away examination) may be permitted; students unable to complete this essay by the due date will be required to sit the examination. Students will be advised in the first week of the subject if this option is available.
