Subject Description: | Both continental and English-speaking philosophers will be included in this advanced study of conceptual and ethical problems posed by our existence as embodied individuals and social beings. The subject will help students in the investigation of the problems posed by embodied existence from a variety of philosophical perspectives -- phenomenological, epistemological and ethical. | |
Assessment: | One 3-hour end-of-semester examination. An alternative assessment by up to 4000 words of essay-work (either during the semester or as a take-away examination) may be permitted; students unable to complete this essay by the due date will be required to sit the examination. Students will be advised in the first week of the subject if this option is available. | |
