Subject Description: | This subject studies theories of meaning and interpretation in contemporary European thought providing a general knowledge and understanding of some central themes of this tradition and how they arose. On completion of the subject students should be able to apply methods and theses studied to current issues and problems, and to critically examine philosophical arguments and theses. | |
Assessment: | One 2-hour end-of-semester examination (50 %) and an assignment of no more than 3000 words (50 %). | |
