161-223/323 Does God Exist?

Prerequisite/s:

One first-year single-semester Philosophy subject. Students who lack this prerequisite, but believe themselves adequately prepared to attempt any second/third year subjects, should consult the Head of Department.

Subject Description:

Major themes in the philosophy of religion, such as classical arguments for and against the existence of God. Students will develop an understanding of the issues raised in the subject, and the ability to argue for relevant conclusions in an alert and well-informed way.

Assessment:

One 2-hour end-of-semester examination (50 %) and an assignment of no more than 3000 words (50 %).
