Subject Description: | Students will be introduced to some of the great questions of philosophy, based on selected classical texts. They will learn to recognise the distinctive nature of philosophical problems and their significance for other areas of human thought. They will also acquire skills that will enable them to work through such philosophical problems. By the completion of the subject students will be in a position to engage with more advanced philosophical material in a wide range of areas. | |
Assessment: | One 1500-word essay during the semester (50 %) and a 2-hour end-of-semester examination (50 %). | |
