158-403 Chinese Translation Project

Subject Description:

An independent translation of a Chinese text equivalent to approximately 5000 words in English translation. Students submit an English translation of a Chinese text, chosen by the student and approved by the supervisor, by the end of first semester. By the end of the subject students should have become familiar with the techniques and standards of literary translation, and be able to incorporate into their theses Chinese language materials related to their thesis topic.

Assessment:

Written work not exceeding 6000 words.
