Subject Description:

The subject consists of two 2-hour sessions each week. All classes are conducted entirely in Japanese. The reading materials used cover such topics as business/economics, history, law, politics, and so forth. Students will develop spoken skills through discussion and debates and reading comprehension skills through computer work.

Assessment:

Third Year: Assignments and quizzes totalling not more than 2500 words in written work; one 2-hour written examination; one oral/aural perception test. Fourth Year: Assignments and quizzes totalling not more than 2500 words in written work; one 2-hour written examination; one oral/aural perception test; one translation exercise (equivalent to not more than 1000 words in written work). Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
