158-113 Standard Chinese 1B

Subject Description:

An accelerated subject for students who speak a dialect of Chinese and who have completed Standard Chinese 1A. At the conclusion of this subject students should have reached approximately the same level as Chinese 2B. They should have mastered the basic grammatical structures of Modern Standard Chinese, and have a vocabulary of approximately 1200 characters.

Assessment:

One aural/oral examination (1 hour); one written examination (2 hours); homework to a maximum of 3000 words. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
