158-104 Chinese Civilisation Past and Present

Objectives:

By the end of the subject students will have acquired a knowledge of Chinese civilisation through the study of relevant source materials. This will provide them with the background knowledge for advanced studies in Chinese language.

Content:

An introductory subject on China. Examines major themes in Chinese civilisation and their role in Chinese life today.

Assessment:

One 2000 word tutorial paper (50%) and one 2-hour examination (50%).
