Chinese 1A or satisfactory completion of a placement test.

Six hours per week: one lecture, four language classes, and one multi-media class

Subject Description:

Spoken and written Chinese for students who have completed Chinese 1A. By the conclusion of this subject students should be able to speak with an acceptable standard of pronunciation, write approximately 400 Chinese characters, and conduct conversation on a limited number of everyday topics.

Assessment:

One aural/oral examination (1 hour); one written examination (1 hour); assignments and short written tests to a maximum of 3000 words. Students will be required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
