Six hours per week: one lecture, four language classes, and one multi-media class

Subject Description:

Spoken and written Chinese for students with no previous knowledge of the language. By the end of this subject students will be familiar with the pinyin system of romanisation, be able to write approximately 200 Chinese characters, and be able to conduct simple conversations on a limited number of topics.

Assessment:

One aural/oral examination (1 hour); assignments and short written tests to a maximum of 5000 words. Students will be required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
