150-347/447 Advanced Hebrew A

Two of Intermediate Hebrew A, B, C, D, or permission of Subject Coordinator.

Up to five hours a week

Objectives:

Students on completion of the subject should have acquired a knowledge of advanced literary texts in Hebrew. Reading skills and understanding of advanced scientific and academic articles and essays are further developed to enrich their knowledge of the modern idiom written and spoken in Israel today.

Content:

Advanced modern literary texts including study of contemporary Hebrew writers in prose and poetry; modern conversational idiom; newspaper and academic articles. Reading and understanding of advanced scientific and academic articles and essays.

Assessment:

150-347: Regular exercises, essays and class tests (50%) and a 2-hour examination (50%). 150-447: Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6000 words.
