Subject Description:

The influence of the Greek heritage throughout the centuries, with particular reference to Rome, Byzantium, the Arabs, the Renaissance, the Age of the Enlightenment, Modern Greece, and Australian society and culture. Themes include democracy, sport, education, language, religion art, literature.

Assessment:

Written work up to 2000 words (50 %) and a 2-hour written examination (50 %).

A selection of readings will be made available through the Department.
