136-491 Directed Study in Anthropology

Entry to Fourth Year Honours.

Up to three hours of consultation a week on a schedule to be determined by the supervising lecturer

Objectives:

Students completing this subject should:

  • have developed skills in researching the available literature on a specific anthropological topic;

  • have thoroughly understood the theoretical and empirical issues raised by that literature;

  • be equipped to formulate and target a specific area of future research at postgraduate level.

Content:

Intensive reading and/or research in a field of ethnological study and/or an area of topical concern not covered by other subjects available. The course of study may include an appropriate subject offered in another department.

Assessment:

Up to 6000 words of written work.
