Prerequisite/s:

At least two 200-level HPS subjects. Students wishing to enrol in this subject must apply for permission through a member of the Department who is willing to supervise the course of study.

Objectives:

To provide students with the opportunity to do supervised research on a topic not normally treated in the undergraduate curriculum. The student should gain skills in independent research and acquire the ability to apply historical, philosophical and social forms of analysis to a subject matter of particular interest to him or her.

Content:

Dependent on interests and expertise of student.

Assessment:

A 3-hour end-of-year examination or written work of up to 5000 words. Exemption from the examination may be granted on the basis of the written work.
