Subject Description: | This subject examines the organisation and expansion of organised sport in Australian society and its cultural significance with reference to the themes of modernity, capitalism, the body, myth and hegemony. Students will be expected to reflect critically upon the relationship between sport and the changing social and economic context, to analyse the formation of images of sport in Australian culture and to demonstrate research and communication skills. | |
Assessment: | Tutorial participation (10%), written work amounting to no more than 5.000 words (90%). | |
