121-404 Advanced Coursework in Geomorphology

Admission to 4th year Geography honours, plus 121-212/312 Geomorphology and either 121-349 Principles of Environmental Hydrology, 121-305 Environmental Hydrology B or 121-360 Environmental Hydrology.

Semester 1, repeated 2

Contact:

Three hours of seminars per week

Objectives:

Students who complete this subject should:

  • be familiar with the current literature of selected major branches of geomorphology;

  • understand and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the major concepts and theories of the selected major branches of geomorphology;

  • be able to critically evaluate and review geomorphological writing.

Content:

Directed reading and tutorials on selected major fields within geomorphology; the critical review of reports, articles and books in the geomorphological literature.

Assessment:

Seminar papers totalling 4000 words; book review of 2000 words.
