121-403 Advanced Coursework in Economic Geography

Objectives:

Students who complete this subject should:

  • understand the current directions of research programs in economic geography;

  • be aware of the theoretical and methodological principles underlying those research programs;

  • know the central findings of those research programs, especially as they apply to Australia;

  • be capable of undertaking directed research in one of those research programs.

Content:

Seminars, directed reading and directed research on current topics in economic geography. Topics may be selected from: industrial restructuring, labour markets, Asian Pacific development, environment and economy.

Assessment:

Written work in the form of seminar and research papers of 6000 words.
