A major in French (Post-VCE stream) or equivalent.

Two hours of lecture/seminar per week.

Content:

A study, via a selection of written and visual texts, of how French cultural production has been obsessed with the problem of remembering - and trying to forget - the experience of the Second World War.

Assessment:

One class paper (written up in French: 1500 words); one document analysis (1000 words); one essay (3000 words - accompanied by a 500 word résumé in French).

Written material provided by the Department, together with various fictional and documentary films.
