Content: | The subject will examine in detail the principal works of three post-World War II Sicilian writers, Tomasi di Lampedusa, Sciascia, and Consolo, paying particular attention in all instances to their reliability as chroniclers of the past, their relevance as such for the historical reality of the times in which they themselves lived, and their concern as writers with the imaginative transformation of their material. | |
Assessment: | Written assignments totalling not more than 5000 words (3rd year) / 6000 words (4th year). | |
