116-313 Italian 3R: Research Project

Prerequisite/s:

Two sequential second-year Italian subjects.

Timetable:

Either semester

Contact:

Fortnightly interviews with supervisor

Objectives:

On completion of the Research Project, students should have:

  • extended and deepened their knowledge of the chosen topic;

  • sharpened their critical faculties in relation to source material and secondary literature;

  • acquired substantial skills in planning and executing a research program on a specific topic;

  • obtained valuable experience with a view to subsequent research projects such as the fourth year Honours, MA and PhD theses.

Content:

An independent research project conducted with staff supervision.

Assessment:

An essay of no more than 5000 words.

Prescribed Texts:

Bibliography to be discussed with supervisor.
