Content: | A detailed analysis of a number of contemporary Italian texts, literary and non-literary, for the purpose of familiarising students with various registers and styles. Exercises in translation (from and into Italian) with an emphasis on those features which are most likely to present challenges to speakers of English. Regular conversation practice on prescribed texts, opportunities for oral expression and written composition. | |
Assessment: | Two hours of written tests. A 1000-word composition in Italian. Continuous assessment. An oral test. | |
