116-276/376 Italian Part 2A: Unit 2

Prerequisite/s:

A pass in a second or third year first-semester Italian subject (normally 116-275/375 Italian Part 2A: Unit 1).

Semester 2

Contact:

A maximum of three hours of language classes and two hours of cultural/literary studies a week

Content:

A systematic revision and consolidation of the basic structures of the Italian language. Grammatical explanations will be integrated by regular weekly exercises, oral and written, and by a weekly conversation practice, so as to extend the range of vocabulary and improve fluency. Students will study an aspect of contemporary Italian culture in some depth, including the study of Italy since 1945 from both political and social perspectives.

Assessment:

One 2-hour test. Two 1500-word essays. An oral test. Continuous assessment.
