Prerequisite/s: | Students enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year linguistic subjects are not normally eligible to enrol. | |
Contact: | Two lectures and one tutorial a week. | |
Content: | The Romance languages (in particular French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese), their position in global and social contexts, their sounds, basic structures and related concepts, differences and mutual influences of the Romance languages, aspects of their history, and development from Latin. | |
Assessment: | Three practical assignments (30%), one quiz (20%) and one final test no more than two hours in duration (50%). | |
Prescribed Texts: | A materials pack prepared by the department will be made available. | |
