116-214 French Part 2: Language

One 1-hour lecture and one 2-hour tutorial per week

Content:

Intensive practical language training, including group discussion, dramatic reading, formal grammar exercises, creative and factual writing; study of topics relating to French society and high and popular aspects of French culture (art, literature, song, etc.). Students completing the course should have improved their listening and reading comprehension, be capable of extracting maximum information from a given passage; be able to communicate effectively, accurately and fluently in both spoken and written French; have consolidated and developed their knowledge of grammatical structures and vocabulary; have deepened their understanding of French society and culture.

Assessment:

(For each semester) semester oral and written work (40%), end of semester written test (30%), end of semester oral test (20%), end of semester listening test (10%)
