Subject Description:

This subject concentrates on self-portraits from the Renaissance to the present day. It explores the function of self-portraits as both reflecting and constructing the artist's identity. The artist's relation to society is examined in terms of changing cultural contexts.

Assessment:

Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling about 6000 words.
