106-417 Feminist Readings

Subject Description:

This subject examines current debates within feminist theory, with particular emphasis on the impact of recent developments in materialist, psychoanalytic and postcolonial theory on feminist literary criticism and women's writing. Students who complete this subject should be familiar with current feminist debates about such categories as class, culture, sexuality and gender and have developed their own feminist readings of a range of theoretical, fictional and cultural texts.

Assessment:

Written work of not more than 6000 words.
