106-405 The Exeter Anthology of Old English Poetry

Students wishing to enrol in this subject must normally have completed two single-semester subjects in Old English Language and Literature.

Subject Description:

This subject examines selected poems from the earliest English anthology, in the original language, with emphasis on the historical and religious context. Students who complete this subject successfully will have acquired advanced knowledge of Old English; will be familiar with trends in the critical reception of Old English literature over the past four centuries; and will be aware of how to use information technology to assist them in more advanced research.

Assessment:

Written work of not more than 6000 words.
