104-335 Theory, Methods and Techniques of Archaeology

This subject is a prerequisite for Honours in Archaeology.

Subject Description:

Lectures and practical classes on theoretical approaches, methodological principles, and specific techniques of archaeology. The subject emphasises a) the practical skills necessary for the primary analysis of excavated data ranging from the initial sorting of finds to final publication of material; b) the presentational skills necessary for structuring archaeological material in a professional way; c) current theoretical approaches to the study of material culture.

Assessment:

5000 words of written work.
