Subject Description:

The history, social and literary life of Rome in the first four centuries AD. Students on completion of the subject should have acquired an understanding of Imperial Roman literature and society through the study of the evidence for the period and have also acquired the necessary skills for the interpretation of this evidence.

Assessment:

3000 words of written work (50%) and a 2-hour examination (50%).
