Subject Description:

An introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of the law. Fields of study include legal processes and the legal system; statute and common law; contract law including building contracts and implied terms; tendering; an introduction to building dispute resolution; insurance law including project insurance and professional indemnity insurance; land law and site surveys; regulatory constraints and business law.

Assessment:

Assignments (e.g. exercises, essays or class presentations) equivalent to not more than 5000 words, and one examination of up to 2 hours (which could take the form of a class test).
