Two lectures a week and one to three hours of tutorials, drawing office and site visits a week

Subject Description:

The subject examines the relationship between construction methods and resources such as plant, equipment and labour. Planning and equipment for site excavation. Types and methods of underpinning. Shoring to building excavations. Scaffolding. Temporary site structures. Temporary power. Plant. Cranes and their deployment. Concrete pumps. Formwork systems and the design, detailing and documentation of formwork for concrete. Safety and statutory regulation of construction plant.

Assessment:

One 2-hour examination paper written and drawn assignments equivalent to not more than 6000 words.
