791-201 Biology III

Objectives:

The objective of this subject is to utilise the biological bases introduced in the prerequisite subjects into the applied biology of nutrition and reproduction in animals, and the biochemistry of photosynthesis and respiration in plants and the influence of environmental variables on plant growth and development.

Content:

Solar radiation balance, photosynthesis and respiration, plant-water relations, impact of light, water and temperature on plant growth. Monogastric and ruminant nutrition, reproductive physiology of lactation, egg production and wool growth, microbiology.

Assessment:

2 x two hour examinations (45% each); assignment of 1000 words (10%)
