Objectives: | The objective of this subject is to enable students to:

Content: | The horse industry: including geographical considerations, influence of overseas industries, production and marketing systems and the relationships of the support and service industries. Evaluation of production strategies and the components of the production process: breeding, breaking, training. Evaluation of facilities and equipment used in each component. Comparison of the various facets such as thoroughbred racing, harness racing, equestrian sports and their techniques. Specific and applied aspects of industry, breeding, nutrition, reproduction, health, behaviour and marketing. | |
Assessment: | Assignment of 2000 words (50%); two hour examination (50%). | |
