Objectives:

The objective of this subject is to enable students to develop skills and knowledge in relation to investment and finance as they apply in the agriculture/farm business.

Content:

Investment concepts - growth, income, gearing; investment decisions under risk and uncertainty - contracts, marketing strategies, diversification, insurance, futures; ownership and acquisition; alternatives to land ownership; investment finance; rural valuation principles; rural land purchases; outside enterprise investment.

Assessment:

Internal Students - Two assignments of 2000 words (30% each); three hour test (40%). External Students - Two assignments of 3000 words each (50% each)
