211-254 Field Studies 1

20 field days and one excursion of up to 10 days

Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students should: have a better understanding of the integrated nature of forestry and land management in Australia; be able to contrast and compare issues and practices; have basic skills including first aid care, use and maintenance of hand tools and chain saws, and use of appropriate computer systems and applications for analysis and presentation of information.

Content:

20 field days involving field-based activities, most of which are hands-on. An excursion of up to 10 days duration will involve bush camping

Assessment:

Attendance and participation in all field days and excursions. Submission of a workbook detailing the activities and exercises as directed. Assessment of all competencies included in the subject.
