250-204 Veterinary Physiology 2

Year 2 Veterinary Science.

Note: Special requirements: Clean white laboratory coat and loose-leaf binder.

Coordinator: Dr M R Brandon.

Contact: 52 hours of lectures and 40 hours of practical classes, research projects, demonstrations, tutorials and/or discussion groups.

Timetable: Double semester.

Objectives:

Students completing the program in Veterinary Physiology 1 and 2 should know and understand:

Content:

An extension of Physiology 1: physiology of the nervous system; ruminant physiology; physiological responses to exercise; cardiovascular and respiratory physiology; endocrinology including hormone receptors; regulation of growth and development; comparative physiology of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive and endocrinological systems

Assessment:

A 2-hour mid-year written examination and a 2-hour end-of-year written examination. Practical work is assessed throughout the year and includes a research report of up to 2,500 words.
