Topics in igneous and metamorphic petrogenesis, illustrating the consequences of partial melting, assimilation and fractionation processes on the resulting magmas, and the consequences of solid state, fluid and partial melting processes on the resulting metamorphic rocks.

Assessment:

A 3-hour written examination and a 3-hour practical examination or reports totalling up to 3,000 words.
