Prerequisite: 615-240 (Concepts in Software Development II)
Contact: Two one hour lectures, one one hour tutorial, and up to three hours of seminar discussion per week.
Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
At the completion of this subject, students should:
- understand the social and technical issues that can impact the outcome of a systems development project;
- understand the factors that affect software quality, in particular management techniques that can enhance software quality;
- be familiar with a range of standards, techniques, and tools developed to support the production of high quality software.
Content:
Topics will include proposal evaluation, project planning and control, quality assurance, risk assessment, change control, performance evaluation, systems installation, education/training of IS personnel and users.
Assessment:
End of semester written examination of up to two hours, group project taking up to 40 hours to prepare and present. The weighting of the assessment components will be announced at the commencement of the subject.
