Prerequisite: A high level of achievement in at least two of 606-201, 606-202, 606-204, 606-205 or 606-206, and acceptance into this subject by the Head of School.
Corequisite: At least two 300-level Botany subjects
Contact: 80 hours practical work
Timetable: First or second semester
Objectives:
By the end of the subject, students should:
- Have an appreciation of the nature and requirements of research in plant science, including experimental design and analysis of data and literature.
- Have experience in presentation of original research.
Content:
An original investigation of an approved topic in botany through observation and/or experimentation and/or a critical review of published works.
Assessment:
A written report of up to 3,000 words and a seminar presentation at the end of the semester in which the project is undertaken.
