516-203 Ocular Anatomy

Prerequisite: Biology 600-141 and 600-142 (Before 1996: 600-101 Biology), Chemistry 610-120, 610-140 or 610-160, Physics 640-120, 640-140 or 640-160. Available to Bachelor of Optometry students only.

Contact: 16 lectures and 8 hours laboratory work

By the end of the subject the student should:

Content:

The anatomy of the skull, with particular emphasis on the orbital cavity, the orbital contents and the external features of the eye. The histology of the ocular tissues. The anatomy of the brain, with particular emphasis on the visual pathway. The embryological development of the eye together with developmental anomalies.

Assessment:

A 2-hour written examination (50 percent), a 30-minute practical examination (30 per cent), and assessment of assignment work derived from practical classes (20 percent).
