Prerequisite: Psychology 512-101, or equivalent.
Contact: 78 lectures (three a week) and 64 hours practical, tutorial and/or project work
Timetable: Double semester.
Objectives:
Psychology 2 will provide students with opportunities to:
- extend the knowledge and skills acquired in their first year study of psychology;
- develop the ability to examine critically basic psychological concepts and theories in the areas of biological bases of behaviour, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and social psychology;
- acquire knowledge about methodologies used in psychological research;
- develop skills in data analysis;
- acquire practical skills in conducting and reporting psychological research;
- develop a background of relevant knowledge and skills on which to base further study of psychology.
Content:
Intermediate Psychology covering topics in biological, experimental, social, developmental and quantitative psychology.
Assessment:
Six hours of end-of-semester written examinations; six laboratory reports of no more than 2,000 words each.
