Prerequisite: Orchestration and Arrangement 1.
Contact: 13 2-hour classes during the year according to the availability of rostered conductors.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to rehearse and conduct a short piece and should be familiar with the basic problems of vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Content:
Basic conducting skills: baton technique, rehearsal methods, score reading (all clefs) and preparation, basic instrumental and vocal ensemble problems.
Assessment:
Written project (20 per cent); class participation (30 per cent); end-of-semester practical test (50 per cent).
