Contact: A 2-hour weekly group lesson/seminar in third or fourth year.
Timetable: Second semester
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should have further enhanced the skills-developed in 740-367 Advanced Keyboard Skills 1in particular: the reading of more complex figured basses and development of the pianistic harmonic vocabulary; increased fluency in reading all types of piano scores and more demanding transpositions; reading of vocal, chamber and orchestral scores; improvisation of prescribed forms and styles, including contrapuntal textures.
Content:
Harmonisation of extended melodies and further development of reading of figured bass; techniques for the reading of more complex material and more demanding transposition; reading of vocal, chamber and orchestral scores; coherent pianistic improvising of specified forms, styles and musical textures.
Assessment:
Weekly assignments (40 per cent); -end-of-semester practical test (50 per cent); class participation (10 per cent).
