740-231 Applied Music Skills-Therapy

Year 2 Music.

Credit points: 10.0

Prerequisite: Permission of Coordinator

Contact: 1 hour class per week for a double semester; up to 4 hours per week ensemble rehearsals for one semester.

Objectives:

To develop skills in guitar and voice sufficient to lead music therapy activities proficiently.

Content:

One semester each of instruction in performance techniques for guitar and voice: guitar strumming and picking, tonal improvisation, accompanying styles, bass runs, barre chords, first position chords; voice production techniques and group singing leadership skills.

Assessment:

Mid-year and end-of-year practical tests; satisfactory participation in Ensemble activities.
