Year 1 Music.
Credit points: 25.0
Coordinator: Associate Professor R Farren-Price.
Prerequisite: Audition in an instrument taught at the Faculty and vacancy in an appropriate ensemble. Applications for entry to the quota close on 14 February. Forms and further information are available from the Faculty of Music Office.
Contact: 45 minutes per week individual lesson weekly 4 hour ensemble rehearsals.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should have developed instrumental or vocal technique, and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied.
Content:
As for Practical Study 1, plus Ensemble classes which seek to develop those skills essential in music making with others.
Assessment:
(a) A 25-minute examination at the end of the year of an approved program of pieces. Programs must be submitted to the coordinator for approval not later than 1 August; (b) before proceeding to (a), students must pass a 10 minute mid-year technical examination and have completed satisfactory attendance at ensemble activities.
