513-410 Seminars in Physiotherapy 2

Year 4 Physiotherapy.

Coordinator: Mr H Wajswelner.

Contact: 75 hours through the year

Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students should:

Comprehend: principles of patient management in the clinical problems presented in the series; policies and processes of the health care system.

Have Developed: the ability to participate and present in a public forum; skills in written communication.

Appreciate: the diversity and depth of physiotherapy practice; the interaction of health policy decisions with professional practice.

Content:

Seminars in Physiotherapy will comprise lectures, seminars and tutorials. The topics will include: pain management, intensive care practice, professional practice and management, physiotherapy in psychiatry, management of the burns patient, physiotherapy in oncology, hand injuries and hand therapy, amputee management, public health issues, Government health policy.

Assessment:

Assignment (60 per cent); Presentation (30 per cent); Attendance (10 per cent)
