Prerequisite: 431-307 Laboratory 3A or 431-308 Laboratory 3B
Corequisite: Enrolment in at least 50% of the standard final year Computer Engineering or Software Engineering course
Contact: One day per week for 24 weeks
Timetable: Double semester.
Objectives:
On successful completion of this subject students should:
- have acquired practical design and research skills related to professional practice in software engineering or computer engineering
- have demonstrated the ability to work in a small team under broad project guidelines, and to successfully achieve the agreed project goals.
Content:
Projects, selected from a list offered by the department each year, will be undertaken under the supervision of a member of the academic staff of the department with relevant expertise. Projects will require activities related to design, implementation and testing of computing systems with associated literature reviews. Project management and reporting will comprise a significant part of all projects. Students with specific interests are encouraged to submit their own project proposals for consideration by the department.
Assessment:
Submission for examination of project reports not exceeding 5,000 words. Source code which forms part of associated implementation work must also be available for examination.
