Objectives:
Upon completion of the subject students should:
- understand algorithmic approaches to solving straighforward problems
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of a high level imperative programming language (Pascal)
Content:
Algorithmic problem solving. Fundamental program structures: variables, selection, repetition, procedures, parameters. Basic data structures: arrays, records, files.
Assessment:
A two-hour written examination. Project work, which is expected to take about 18 hours and laboratory work, must be completed satisfactorily to pass the subject. Weighting of assessment components will be made known at the commencement of the subject.
